OUR MOST CAPTIVATING LIMITED EDITION PIECE
Introducing the all-new Nocturne, adorned with a captivating Midnight Blue Aventurine dial
dial evoking the night sky above Tokyo. Especially created together
with our long-standing partner H°M’S” in Japan.
THE CULMINATION OF AN 8-MONTH JOURNEY: AN EXCEPTION DIAL
The dial is made of Aventurine and took over eight months to finish, made from a special type of glass made which includes silica, copper oxide, and other metal oxides. When heated in a low oxygen environment and allowed to cool, the material acquires a flecked, sparkling appearance. These flecks are offset against a deep blue, which—when paired with the right case like stainless steel — creates a stunning visual effect, like a portal into space itself.
HYBRID CALIBER
Inspired by the early days of racing, the new Nocturne Chronograph is powered by an impressive engine of its own. In fact, the renowned VK64 Meca Quartz from Seiko is a so-called “hybrid movement” combining quartz technology with mechanical movements to form an engine that balances the advantages and disadvantages of each. We’d have it no other way.
“The central chronograph hands tick five times per second, just like movements of old. We’d have it no other way.”
Whilst the timekeeping mechanism is essentially quartz, you’ll notice the “meca” part of the equation come into play every time you reset the chronograph. With components taken directly from Seiko's own in-house mechanical chronographs, the chronograph hands are disengaged from the quartz motor and are snapped back to zero, meaning you don't get that sweep back to zero that is representative for standard quartz chronos. Rather, you get a timepiece that combines the accuracy of quartz with the distinct look and feel of a mechanical chronograph. The central chronograph hands tick five times per second, just like movements of old.
