A Polycarbon watch developed for the Harlem Globetrotters’ 100th anniversary.
The design applies key elements from the team directly. Original team colours are kept intact, and the anniversary logo, designed by the Globetrotters, is printed in relief to create depth on the dial.
THE EXPERIMENT
This project looks at how to mark 100 years of the Harlem Globetrotters with intention. Because for both the Globetrotters and D1 Milano, it’s not just about the result. It’s about how you get there.
Each design element is applied deliberately. The team’s original colors are kept. The special 100 year anniversary logo, designed by the team, is given depth rather than scale. The result is a watch where every detail is considered, and nothing is added without a reason.
MATERIAL SCIENCE
The case is made from polycarbonate, making the watch almost impossibly lightweight with a slim, low profile. A soft-touch finish reduces surface glare and gives the material a more wearable feel.
A monochromatic dial, case and detailing create a unified form, while the gold-plated caseback and black-plated crown introduce contrast without disrupting the overall balance.
Anti-reflective glass maintains clarity across the dial, allowing the colors and raised logo to remain visible in different lighting conditions. The logo is printed in relief, creating a three-dimensional surface that adds depth without increasing visual weight.
